The newer, more advanced version of L’Oréal Paris’s Glycolic Bright serum, built around an 8% complex of Melasyl, Glycolic Acid, and Niacinamide. Melasyl is L’Oréal’s own patented molecule (18 years in development) that works differently from most brightening actives — instead of just inhibiting tyrosinase, it intercepts melanin precursors before they turn into visible pigment, which is why L’Oréal markets it as effective across all skin tones on even stubborn, persistent dark spots.
Glycolic Acid, the smallest and most-researched AHA, adds gentle daily exfoliation to accelerate cell turnover, while Niacinamide supports a more even tone and a stronger skin barrier. The formula also includes Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (a gentler BHA derivative), Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Vitamin E for a well-rounded, lightweight daily serum.
Suitable Skin Types
All skin types — Normal · Dry · Oily · Combination. L’Oréal markets Melasyl as well tolerated across all skin tones and sensitivities, but as with any AHA/exfoliating-acid serum, those with very reactive or sensitive skin should patch test and introduce it gradually.
Key Features & Benefits
• Melasyl (2-Mercaptonicotinoyl Glycine), L’Oréal’s multi-patented brightening molecule, intercepts melanin precursors before they surface as visible dark spots — targeting sun spots, age spots, and post-acne marks.
• Glycolic Acid, the most researched AHA, gently exfoliates and supports the skin’s own collagen production, smoothing texture while it brightens.
• Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) helps visibly even skin tone and strengthens the look of the skin barrier.
• Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (LHA), a gentler BHA-type exfoliant, works alongside Glycolic Acid for smoother, clearer-looking skin.
• Caffeine adds antioxidant support to the formula.
• Sodium Hyaluronate and Glycerin help keep skin hydrated so it doesn’t feel stripped despite the exfoliating acids.
• Tocopherol and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) round out the antioxidant support.
• Marketed by L’Oréal as clinically shown to visibly reduce dark spots (up to 77–86% in brand clinical studies over 8 weeks depending on the study cited) with regular use; individual results may vary.
How to Use
1. Apply to clean, dry skin, morning and night, before moisturiser.
2. Dispense 2–3 drops and spread evenly across the face, focusing on areas with visible dark spots.
3. Allow to fully absorb before applying moisturiser.
Always apply a minimum SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen in the morning — this matters even more with an acid + brightening-active combination like this one. Avoid the eye contour area. If new to AHA/BHA actives, start with alternate-day use.
